Cell Phone Use While Driving

Although we all know that we need to be alert and paying attention to our driving, these days we have many forms of distracted driving. Whether we are eating in the car, talking to friends, passing toys to young children, looking on GPS’s for directions or using our phones; all of those actions add to distracted driving. We all know that texting and driving is a no no but what about talking on the phone?

On July 1st, New Hampshire became the 15th state that banned the use of handheld cellphones. You cannot use the phone to dial and then put it down – no hand holding at all.  If you are a new driver, you need to check with your state’s law to see what you can or cannot do. Typically, an inexperienced operator is not allowed to use cell phones at all when driving.

Safety is foremost and the rate of accidents caused by distracted drivers is rising.  It is always better to be safe than sorry.
