Disaster Planning

Why?

Disaster planning is something you do for the future. Our brushes with hurricanes, winter storms, power outages, and flooding have shown us time and time again that businesses with disaster plans come out on top when a catastrophe strikes. By organizing your reaction while your head is clear, you'll have a more streamlined process and be back on your feet sooner.

How?

Any business is capable of creating a good disaster plan. Start by watching our video above that covers the essentials for catastrophe preparation. We also have created an outline that you can download below that provides organization for your response plan in a single page. A second page includes insurance related actions to take after a disaster to get the claims process underway with your business's recovery a prime objective.

When?

The time is now if you haven't created a plan yet; any time that you can break out to attend to strategic thinking is good.  Plans should be updated annually (we do this every summer). The insurance industry knows with certainty what we all probably believe: that immediate, organized action following a disaster is the best possible business practice, reducing the disruption and overall cost. Having a plan in place allows this initial action to be effective in getting back to business. It's a small investment that could pay large dividends some day.
