Graduation Safety Tips

Stay_safe_on_graduation_with_teen_auto_insurance_Andrew_G_Gordon_Inc_MASpring is a time of celebration for high school seniors! Along with prom, general fun and graduation, there's a lot to be excited about. Here are just a few reminders about how to be smart about how you have fun:

  • Don't drink and drive. This is always a rule, but don't bend the rules for the season. Always have a designated driver planned ahead of time, and use your best judgement.
  • Don't drive distracted. With so much going on, we all want to be in constant contact with our friends, but texting and social media can wait. It's best not to talk on the phone while driving, either (and it's illegal if you're under 18). In addition to staying off your phone, if you're driving friends around, stay focused while driving amidst the talking and camaraderie. You can celebrate once you've safely reached your destination.
  • Always wear your seat belt. It's the law, and the majority of teens who are die in auto accidents on prom/graduation weekends weren't wearing their seat belt. It's easy and it could save a life.
  • For parents, stay by your phone and always be available. If your teen needs a ride at 3 a.m., you'll want to be there for them. You can also think of a "code word" with your teen; for example, if your child texts you that they forgot to walk the dog, know that it means they want you to come pick them up. Your teen can pretend that you're mad at them and want them to come home, which can get them out of situations that they're uncomfortable with.

It is a really exciting time to be a senior, but stay responsible! Check out our website, or contact us if you have any teen auto insurance or safety questions!
